Smartphone maker HTC and carrier Tata Docomo today announced a partnership, wherein they aim to increase the usage of CDMA phones in India. To do this they will together launch a series of dual-SIM phones in India across all price ranges, starting with the HTC One dual-SIM, which will be available for Rs 53,590.
“Dual-SIM smartphones are more popular as they allow consumers to take advantage of the most effective network coverage in the vicinity of the user for the best possible connections,” said Jack Yang, president, HTC South Asia.
For those needing help recollecting the device, the HTC One dual-SIM is essentially the One with two key differences. Firstly, it has dual-SIM card slots for CDMA and GSM networks and second, it has a microSD card slot to increase storage to up to 64GB.
Other than this, nothing else has changed and it is the same device which features a 4.7-inch LCD panel that has a class leading pixel density of 468ppi, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 CPU clocked at 1.7GHz and supplemented by 2GB of RAM.
Other features included are a 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera with OIS, 2.1-megapixel front camera, built-in BoomSound speakers and Beats Audio integration, 32GB of internal storage and a 2,300 mAh battery. The phone runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with the Sense 5 user interface with custom HTC experiences like Zoe camera and the Blinkfeed. The partnership will also see Tata Docomo customers (Prepaid and Postpaid) get special offers for both CDMA and GSM customers.
Having said that, we wonder what’s up with HTC and its pricing smartphones above Rs 50,000?
