Google’s latest report on Android developer dashboard shows that out of all Android versions, Jelly Bean (Android 4.1 and Android 4.2) has now surged from 40 percent
to 45.1 percent of the entire Android ecosystem. Android GingerBread
and Android Ice Cream Sandwich, on the other hand, are continuously
losing their share and are slowly fading away. Google has also mentioned
that Android 1.6 Donut and 2.1 Eclair will not be counted any further,
considering that the report is based on data gathered from the new
Google Play Store app, which supports Android 2.2 Froyo and above.
According to the report, the 4.1 version of Jelly Bean rules the roost and runs on 36.6 percent Android devices leaving behind the GingerBread which now runs on 30.7 percent of devices, down from 33.1 percent recorded a month back.
As seen in the pie chart, the share of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has now decreased from 22.5 percent last month to 21.7 percent in the latest report. As far as Froyo and Honeycomb version are concerned, Honeycomb remains stagnant at 0.1 percent, while Froyo has witnessed a marginal decline from 2.5 percent last percent month to 2.4 percent.
